Opera

All day Friday, I was excited about going to the opera on Saturday. I kept telling all my coworkers I was going to see the Marriage of Figaro. Then, I'd break out singing Fiiiiiiiigaro, Figaro, Figaro, Figaro. Then they'd look at me like I was crazy. Apparently, not everyone is fond of opera (or my singing).

The last opera I went to I was 7 years old. I went with the Girl Scouts to the Santa Fe opera. My memory is very poor, but I remember the evening was gorgeous, I really liked my dress, and I didn't have much of a clue as to what was going on with the plot. At Furr's cafeteria afterwards, and I ate waaaaaay too much. The girl scouts dropped me off at my home late at night. I threw my Furr's dinner up on the bathroom floor, our dog, Bell cleaned it up for me and I went to bed. It's kind of a bizzare memory, but I did enjoy the opera (and I never ate that much again!)

Ah yes! Today is my Mom's 51st birthday! Give her a hard time :)

And Mezzo! I learned what mezzo means!

I like the overtures... which is to say the orchestral bits... but I'm way too much of a Philistine to appreciate the singing. Sigh... there goes my street cred with Katy.

But you didn't tell us how the performance was!

That photo reminds me of the old TV game show called "What's My Line." Will the real opera singer please step forward.

Jesse! I am behind on my blog reading this March - so just saw this today :) I'm glad you enjoyed the opera - it's a great one. (And yes - now you know what Mezzo means...that's what I am!!)
OH: Now you *must* see The Barber of Seville by Rossini - because that's where "fiiiiiiiigaro, figaro, figaro, figaro" is sung!! And it's very funny, too.

Yeah Mezzo, I am going to have to see Barber of Seville because I was very disappointed not hear the Fiiiigaro, figaro, figaro part the other night!
