My cousin and I attempted the 10 mile hike to New Mexico's highest peak - Wheeler Peak 13,161 ft. We took the Lost Lake, Horseshoe Lake route.

Horseshoe Lake

We made it to the ridge where you could look over and see
Taos ski valley. We just had a little bit left to go to make it to the top, but this was as far as we made it.

The long walk of shame back home - at least it was beautiful!

I have news for you, it lots further than ten miles. You are a good cousin.
"it is" something seems wrong with my eyes.
gorgeous gorgeous!!!!
I LOVE WHEELER PEAK!!! I've hiked it twice, the first time in 2005 with Dad, Lizzy and Laura. Laura and I took Chris last summer. One of the prettiest hikes in New Mexico, I think! We did the Bull-of-the-Woods trail both times. The first three miles are misery, but the rest makes it worth it. I'm glad we can share this experience, Jess ;)
Kathryn Parks Flanigan!
